I am still here....

but predictably doing badly in the weight loss arena. I have been travelling in each of the last 7 weeks - which has meant virtually no exercise and too much comfort (and of course fattening) food. My digestion is complaining about being on a veggie detox today and yesterday - and I did do 20 minutes of a Jillian Michaels DVD this morning with Karen - so today I am officially on the wagon. Let's just call my starting weight 'annoying visiting auntie' and let's hope she goes soon - I think I'm going to do weight watchers online as the travelling means that I can never get to that many meetings in a row - so look out for the new Monday morning updates....

Bad bad bad.....

So that was the year I lost 20 pounds and gained 21....a poor performance and I'm feeling pretty low. Karen has been very good telling me that now we know we can do it AND we know that it's not something you can ever 'stop' doing - hence off we go again. We also looked at a book which listed 45 perimenopausal symptoms and I have about 42 of them - the relevant one being 'finding it increasingly hard to lose weight'! What have I learnt?....Well eating less food does mean you lose weight but without any exercise to control the hormones it is unsustainable; eating whatever you like and exercising like mad makes you feel great and you do lose weight - but again it's unsustainable to keep that level of exercise going. Travelling around and eating out is the real deal breaker for me - it gets me out of the zone and I find it really hard to get back on track. Am off to the gym in 15 mins.....

I lost 1.2lbs last week

So finally I have stopped the upward trend - just in time for a trip to the UK which is what started the last downward slip! Still can't seem to find motivation for exercise which is strange - but the eating is going better. Weater here has been rotten and that has meant walks have been cancelled due to torrential rain - but I do have a bike in the basement and some Xena dvd's to work through. Work is very full on and I'm a bit behind with a few clients - but I'm excited about the variety of work I have on at the moment. Overall am pleased with having sorted myself out a bit this month and got organised - now I have to see things through - wish me luck!

Crunch time!

Well the length of time it has taken to get back to this should tell you something! Yes it's bad - I'm down to a puny 9lbs total loss - which means I've put on 12 pounds since February. I could blame work and travel and stress - but in the end it's really my fault - I know what to do and it was working - but I still stopped doing it! So it's back on the wagon and MUCH more regular with the updates...

Another 2.4 pounds down!

I was helped by a 10 day week - I didn't get to weigh in on Tuesday as I was in Toronto and so the weigh in wasn't until Saturday morning. Hence with my next weigh in just 2 days away this next week will be hard to lose anything in!

But - I am still pleased by the general direction - and this is without my usual levels of exercise. The hamstring is a lot better and thus the gym will be seeing more of me this week. I may actually be 13 stone something for the first time in over a decade by weeks end.

Successes this week - staying in a hotel which was more of a suite and so I could make my own dinner - eating out is a killer for trying to lose weight as even if you have the healthiest item on the menu you're probably still eating more than you'd like. I made myself tuna salad and also bought a lot of fruit for snacking - it saved me from the cookies that get provided at every meeting. Total loss so far 21.8 pounds.

2 lbs - I'm now up to 19.4 pounds lost

Hi all

just a quickie - a 2 pound loss this week so feeling pretty pleased. This despite hardly any exercise due to very cold weather and dodgy hamstring - so hopefully I can keep it up for next week. My secret this week - porridge for breakfast and a two person portion of soup for lunch with lots of fruit - you feel full and its hardly any points and you feel as if you're eating a lot! (well you are!). Having a celebratory Leffe beer tonight. When do you suppose they'll learn to make beer in North America?

No weight gained over New Year

Yes my friends it is true - I weighed exactly the same when I got back as when I left - to the nearest tenth of a pound! I had prepared myself for around a 4 or 5 pound increase (see previous blog) so was very happy. I have pretty much stuck to it this week - although exercise has been hard as its freezing outside and I have loads of work. Also I tweaked a hamstring last week - which I think I mentioned - its still a bit sore so nothing too aggravating which means not too much sweating! Thus the loss may not be large (or even a loss!) but I'm getting back into the mental groove and feel confident that I can shift another 10 pounds before Jo and Brendan's wedding in April.
